Chamber moves date for city council candidates forum

The Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce has changed the date for its virtual Zoom candidate forum to Jan. 21 starting at noon, so as not to conflict with the presidential inauguration. The forum is designed to help residents prepare for the March 2 election for three city council seats.
Candidates had until Jan. 15 to qualify for a chance to succeed Mayor Mick Denham, who is not seeking re-election, and Councilmembers Chauncey Goss and Jerry Muench, who were appointed in 2020 as interim members to replace former Councilmembers Jason Maughan and Kevin Ruane.
JUPITER Bears, birds, alligators and other animals at the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary will move to a new home in the coming months after officials from the northern Palm Beach County wildlife hospital completed plans for a new complex in Jupiter Farms.
The wildlife hospital will be moved to a 19.4-acre site at Indiantown and Rocky Pine roads, about 6 miles northwest of its current location, by the spring of 2022, Sanctuary board Chairman Peter Busch said.
The sanctuary will remain on Jupiter Park Drive for another year after officials and the Loxahatchee River District signed a new agreement allowing the sanctuary to rent space from the district through March 2022.
