IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad (
pic), who came into close contact with a Covid-19 patient, has been tested for the coronavirus and the results could be known by Friday (April 30).
According to a statement issued by his office, the Mentri Besar took the test at about 2.30pm on Thursday (April 29) as a precaution. All his official programmes that have been scheduled until May 3 will be cancelled. He is expected to be back to work on May 4, pending advice from the Health Ministry and National Security Council, the spokesman said.
Saarani was reported to be undergoing self-quarantine after coming into contact with the patient on April 23 while attending a programme in Lenggong.
IPOH (Bernama): Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad is undergoing self-quarantine for 14 days after coming into close contact with a Covid-19 patient.
His political secretary, Datuk Sham Mat Sahat, said he received information that Saarani was told to undergo quarantine from Wednesday (April 28) until May 11 after coming into close contact with an individual while attending a programme in Lenggong. At 5pm, he (Saarani) said he was unable to attend the Perak Nuzul Al-Quran 2021 celebration at Sultan Idris Shah II Mosque here this evening. He told me to represent him at a breaking of fast event in Batu Kurau on Friday (April 30) as he would be in quarantine.

IPOH, April 11 The Perak government will revive the Commonwealth Youth City project in Tanjung Malim that was shelved during Pakatan Harapan’s rule.
Mentri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad said the project that was implemented under former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir’s administration, was part of plans for the Southern Perak Development Corridor.
“That plan was suspended after the new state government took over in 2018 and with its own policies introduced at that time, the project was shelved.

SUNGAI SIPUT, April 4 The Department of Orang Asli Development (Jakoa) should exercise caution when providing approval letters to allow any party to enter Orang Asli settlements for any activity or programme, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad said.
He said Jakoa should not simply allow anyone, including foreigners, to enter Orang Asli villages during the Covid-19 pandemic.
