Mentor program to link Penola community

Charlotte Varcoe PENOLA High School students will work with volunteers from around the district as part of a community connection and wellbeing mentorship program. The program was sparked by school governing board member Anne Johnson and will link students with participating adults who share similar interests or skills for an 80-minute session on a weekly or fortnightly basis. The initiative aims to develop and maintain ongoing, positive and trusting relationships between youths and adults in the community while enhancing students’ emotional wellbeing and learning.
