Sharon, any action so far . Reporter well, marcus, mayor london breed made the announcement yesterday that the shelter in place will be extended through may 1st. Now, several county boards of supervisors are taking on the issue this morning. Theyre doing virtual meetings. Ive been watching this meeting with the Contra Costa County board of supervisors and Public Comments sent in earlier are now going into the second hour of the meeting. So many pleas for help, residents describing how theyve lost their jobs and are worried about how theyre going to pay for rent and food, worried about evictions. And some suggesting criminals with minor offences should be released to relieve overcrowding in the jails. Those were just some of the comments. Thats why, though, acknowledging how difficult it is for all, mayor breed says the shelter in place must be extended until may 1st to help flatten the curve. In fact, one of the unforgettable moments of my new jersey childhood was witnessing first hand the horrible race riots in newark in so tonight these two strands of my life come together as we honor congressman john lewis.
