Letters to the Editor Peaceful protests, evangelical Christians, deportation halt on hold, hospitals with vaccines, Frisco pastor Readers talk about the different way a peaceful versus a violent protest is handled, agree with Peggy Wehmeyer’s column on evangelical Christians, support stopping the deportation halt, don’t feel vaccines are given equally and denounce the Frisco pastor for his “cancel culture” comments. A (very) weary world rejoices

A (very) weary world rejoices Some people are victims, others are vessels. By Peggy Wehmeyer . Some mornings when I wake up and see the latest headlines, my head spins. How did the world I once knew become so unrecognizable? I feel like Rip Van Winkle, the Washington Irving character who fell asleep for 20 years, only to find when he awoke that everything had changed. The COVID-19 pandemic has upended our routines, stolen American lives and jobs and shuttered our favorite restaurants. But it’s the psychological fallout of the social and political upheaval that leaves me most disoriented. People I’ve known and respected for years are convinced that federal judges, election officials and the media have colluded to steal the election from Donald Trump.
