Today, were dealing with the effects of the winter storm that hit siouxland yesterday and overnight. As the morning snow hit, roads and sidewalks began to freeze over. Sioux city was a white out earlier yesterday, with less than half a mile visibility. And the icy sidewalks and streets were making it more difficult for travel. Earlier in the morning, crews were out clearing the streets and spreading sand, but it was slow going. The Winter Weather conditions did cause some problems for drivers. Ktivs tommie clark shows us the tricky travel on sioux city roads yesterday. Snow. This morning after about 9 30 they just started to deteriate quickly. We really saw that significant change. Weve had troopers staggered. Some came out at 4am, 6am, and then i came out at 7 and then well all extend our shifts throughout the day, said i state trooper, john farley. Waking up to cloudy skies and cold temperatures in the 20s this morning. A few snow showers are still occurring in far Northern Iowa this morning. There is a winter storm warning still in effect in Northern Iowa through 6 am. Temperatures will not warm up much. Highs will only reach the upper 20s. There is another chance for some light snow again early wednesday morning, as a weak disturbance passes through iowa drivers will want to take their time during the morning commute. As you can see, all highways and interstates are at least partially covered with snow and ice. But the worst conditions are found in the southeastern part of the state. Thats where the roads are completely covered. Blowing snow is also expected. Here in the metro. Snow plows are out on the streets around the clock. It takes a lot of people.
