The quizzers are back to 'Beat the Chasers' | Belfast News Letter

Submitting. Host Bradley Walsh claimed Beat the Chasers was like “The X Factor for quizzers”, while one fan even compared the show to Avengers Assemble – sharing a photo in which he had photoshopped each of the Chasers’ heads on to one of the superheroes, including The Beast as The Hulk. Now, following two celebrity specials in March in which Joe Pasquale, Katherine Ryan, Radzi Chinyanganya, Christine Ohuruogu and, most memorably ‘master of quizzes’ Shaun Williamson, took on the line-up, Beat the Chasers is back for a third, week-long, run. For those who haven’t seen the show yet, it starts off with the Cash Builder round, in which a contestant answers five multiple-choice questions for the chance to bank up to £5,000. (However, if they start with a wrong answer, they are immediately out of the game).

What’s on TV this weekend: Derry Girls’ Siobhan McSweeney takes the reigns on The Great Pottery Throw Down The i 1/8/2021 Gerard Gilbert Friday 8pm, Channel 4 The end-of-the-pier café is packed, nobody’s wearing masks and the opening guest of a new series, Jack Dee, informs Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty that he’s been busy travelling and touring, so this was obviously filmed a lifetime ago. Dee revisits his days as a chef at the Ritz (he lied his way into the short-lived job) and shares memories of family camping holidays in France as a child, with the hosts tracking down the campsite his family stayed at and recreating the effect of a perfect rotisserie chicken, but in a domestic oven. All that and Jamie’s pot roast pork and Jimmy’s samosas.

Beat The Chasers: ITV viewers left furious after Scottish contestant appears to be 'ripped off' in buzz-in controversy

Submitting. Producers of the hit ITV show Beat The Chasers have been forced to deny accusations that they “ripped off” a Scottish contestant who lost out on a £10,000 prize after his opponent appeared to break the rules. Before attempting to answer a question in the round, Chasers are required to press their buzzers. The name of the first Chaser to buzz in is then announced in the studio before they give their answer. But during Gordon’s round, some viewers noticed that Chaser Paul “Sinnerman” Sinha’s name was not announced before he answered a question - leading some to suggest he had not buzzed in legally.
