Cultural programs for provincial inmates in Saskatchewan are expected to expand when four new cultural lodges open at men’s jails and the Kilburn Hall youth centre this year.
The lodges at the Saskatoon, Regina and Prince Albert Correctional jails and Kilburn Hall in Saskatoon are expected to be completed by the end of June. Tenders for the construction projects were posted late last week.

Fred Tarr, the director of First Nations and Metis services for the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, said the programs will vary from region to region.
REGINA A young offender who escaped from a Regina youth centre has been located and arrested, according to police. The Regina Police Service said a boy was arrested without incident, from a home in north-west Regina around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening. A second boy also escaped from the Paul Dojack Youth Centre Tuesday evening. Police have located and arrested the second boy who was located at 2:45 p.m. in the North Central neighbourhood and was taken into custody without incident. Both boys will now face additional charges as a consequence of their actions.

The two young offenders who escaped from the Paul Dojack Youth Centre in west Regina on Tuesday night are back in custody.
Regina police said one youth was arrested Wednesday night without incident at a home in northwest Regina. The second was located by police Thursday at 2:45 p.m., in the North Central neighbourhood and taken into custody.
Both males are now facing additional charges as a result of their escape.
The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety said the two were considered dangerous and was preparing a court application to release their names and photos to assist in their recapture.

Regina police say they have arrested two young offenders who escaped from the Paul Dojack Youth Centre on Tuesday.
The province said in a news release Wednesday that the pair escaped the previous night and were considered dangerous.

The Regina Police Service says they have found and arrested both youths who escaped from secure custody at Regina’s Paul Dojack Youth Centre on Tuesday night.
Police located the first individual at a home in the city’s northwest end on Wednesday night just before 8:30 p.m. where he was arrested without incident.
The second escapee was found at 2:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon in Regina’s North Central neighbourhood where he was taken into custody.
Both offenders will now face additional charges for escaping the centre.
