Port of South Louisiana completes Dow rail storage project Wednesday, April 21, 2021 Construction of a six-track rail yard for Dow Chemical in St. Charles Parish is now complete, according to a news release issued by the Port of South Louisiana. The rail yard, located at SoLaPort, a port-owned property on the west bank of the Mississippi River, is configured to accommodate between 250 and 350 rail cars. Constructed by Barriere Construction, the project required installation of a 2,000-square-yard, two-track rail car storage and maintenance pad and related infrastructure, including an access road from La. 18, more than 27,000 feet of track connecting to the rail spur, switches to facilitate “cherry-picking” cars, security fencing along the perimeter of the leased property and lighting.

April 20, 2021 By Waterways Journal Paul Aucoin, executive director of the Port of South Louisiana, is one of four newly appointed members of the World Trade Center of New Orleans’ board of directors. The three other new board members are Michael Hecht, president and CEO of Greater New Orleans Inc.; Heather Hohensee, Tellurian Inc.’s government and public affairs director; and Dolph Parro, executive vice president of Republic National Distributing Company. “These professionals join an industrious, talented and diverse World Trade Center board that, since 1944, has had the privilege of working with high-profile trade-industry leaders, both domestically and internationally,” said World Trade Center of New Orleans Chairman Stephen Hanemann.
