The additional $57,236, plus HST, to be paid to Comcor Environmental Limited was given the thumbs up during Tuesday’s meeting and will see the overall value of the project jump to $211,165, plus HST.

This additional expense is unbudgeted, but Environmental Services will defer the development of a Community Sustainability Plan (identified in the 2021 budget) to allow for the funds to be redirected to this project.
City of Timmins Director of Public Works and Engineering Patrick Seguin indicated the additional funds are to cover contract administration and tendering services.

“That station (located at the McIntyre Community Building) serves all the gravity sewers from Schumacher,” said Patrick Seguin, the city’s director of Public Works and Engineering.
“They get pumped up to around (Highway) 655 and then gravity feeds the wastewater plant, so that is a crucial lift station for us.
“It was an old station and when the consultants started looking at some of the details and doing a detailed inspection we found we needed a bit more money to complete the final design.
