piece. they want to see the laws themselves overhauled, rather thanasi a reorganization or retooling for the agency responsible for enforcing the laws. that said, over the last few months, quite quickly, we have seen a dramatic upswing in the number of democrats, particul particularly grassroots activists, who are making this a key issue. most notably, cortez, who defeated joe crowley s in new york s 14th congressional district this past week. a key part of her campaign was arguing i.c.e. needed to be abolished. that galvanized the primary voters, who took her to a shocking upset victory. it is not something that is a consensus view among democrats, but it is a growing view, to be sure. help us understand the role of i.c.e. in this. it is a great we ve been familiar with the last many years as we talk about immigration issues. a lot of people don t fundamentally understand what i.c.e. does. fit it into the immigration apparatus of the federal government.
