January 12, 2021 11:31 PM Jacob Lenard PARSONS, Kan. – Parsons wide receiver Tanner Barcus will have a chance to play one more game this summer. “I’m very glad for that, because I really do love football,” Barcus says, “I’m glad I get to play again in high school.” Barcus has been selected to play in the 2021 Kansas Shrine Bowl, after posting 75 catches for more than 1,000 yards with 13 touchdowns in the fall. “It’s about Tanner. It’s also about Tanner’s teammates,” says Parsons head football coach Jeff Schibi, “I think it means a lot to them as well to be able to see their teammate play in this game.”

BRIGHT Mark Allen “Squeeky” Bright, 60, a resident of the Porterwood Community, Parsons, departed this life Monday morning, Dec. 28, 2020, at his home. Death was unexpected. He was born Tuesday, April 26, 1960, at Parsons, a son of the late Harold Gene “Squeak” Bright and Nettie Genevie Loughry Bright Lipscomb. Surviving are two brothers, James Patrick “Pat” Bright of Pifer Mt. and Paul Keith Bright and wife, Marlene, of Pheasant Run; stepfather, Jennings Randolph Lipscomb of Parsons; one niece, Misty Dawn Ritter and husband, Mike, of Thomas; and great niece and nephew, Layla and Austin Ritter of Thomas. Preceding him in death is one brother, Michael Lynn Bright; one sister, Pauletta Kay Canfield; and one sister-in-law, Vickie Rena Freeman Bright.
