Clackamas County District Attorney John Foote resigns early
Clackamas County District Attorney-elect John Wentworth will take the office a few days early.
Gov. Kate Brown announced Dec. 17 that she will appoint Wentworth to be Clackamas County s top prosecutor effective Jan. 1.
Wentworth won election in May as district attorney for a term that starts Jan. 4, but Foote announced his retirement effective Dec. 31. Brown s early appointment of Wentworth is intended to ensure a smooth transition in the DA s office. John Wentworth has deep roots in Clackamas County, and has earned the support of Clackamas County voters, Brown said. His dedication to serving the public, including his two decades with the Clackamas County District Attorney s office, demonstrates his deep commitment to this work, and will enable him to hit the ground running on day one.

Lottery sales tanked when the pandemic hit, but now have risen sharply; on pace to end 2020 with more annual sales than 2019.
Gov. Kate Brown wants to resurrect more than 30 projects costing more than $200 million that died last summer when the state bond market collapsed during business shutdowns ordered to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Brown s 2021-23 budget proposal includes Oregon Lottery bonds set aside for projects in nearly every corner of the state.
The projects include $5 million for the Beaverton Hoops YMCA program; $3.5 million to renovate Parrott Creek Child and Family Services in Oregon City; $2.33 million for a health center at Reynolds High School; $2 million for pedestrian connectors in Sherwood; $2 million for the Gradin Sports Park in Gresham; $2 million for the Hacienda CDC Las Adelitas Housing in Portland; and $1.5 million for the new Patricia Reser Center for the Arts in Beaverton.
Parrott Creek receives $50K grant from New York Life Foundation December 10 2020 Love Takes Action funds to help Clackamas County nonprofit with added costs due to COVID-19 in helping at-risk youth.
Parrott Creek Child and Family is receiving some much needed financial respite thanks to a grant from the New York Life Foundation s Love Takes Action program.
The Oregon City-based nonprofit will receive $50,000 to go towards general operations after Simon Fulford, executive director, was selected as an honoree for the program and subsequently selected Parrott Creek to be the recipient of the grant.
Fulford was nominated by Mariah Hurlburt, a financial service representative who works for New York Life Insurance out of its Tigard office. Hurlburt recently advised Parrott Creek after receiving a lead gift for the organization s upcoming capital campaign.
