A project thatâs been in the works for more than two years is nearing completion. The Town of Parkerâs Magistrate Court moved into their new home at 1112 Arizona Avenue on Wednesday, Dec. 16.
The move takes the Magistrate Court out of Town Hall and puts it in a home of its own.
The Magistrate Court will occupy one-half of the building, which had been used for retail shops and offices. The new courthouse includes a reception area with key card access to the courtroom and reception office area, a bullet-proof reception window, a public and private bathroom, file room, court clerk office, jury room, judgeâs office, break room, courtroom with judgeâs bench, jury seating, and a prisoner holding area.
A Christmas season tradition continued in Parker Saturday, Dec. 12 with the annual Parade of Lights. Organized by Soroptimist International of Parker, this marked the 13
th year the parade has been held. The event drew many vehicles and floats decorated with lights for the holiday season.
The parade made its way along the Tim Edwards parade route, starting at 16
th Street and Joshua Avenue. It made its way along Joshua Avenue and turned left on 12
th Street to end at the Parker Community/Senior Center. It drew a large crowd of spectators, many of whom were wearing face masks and practicing social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic.
