3 3 todays weather to blame for a fire call in morningside earlier this afternoon. Lightning struck the chimney of a home in the 49 hundred block of morningside avenue at around 1 30 this afternoon. Fire crews responded after the homeowner reported smoke in her attic. They found damage to the chimney and some minor scorch marks to the top of the home. A woman and her son were home at the time. But were not injured. 3 3 and in western nebraska. Theyve seen their first recorded snowfall of 2015 out of this storm system thats now moving through siouxland. This video is from north platte, nebraska. While they saw some heavy, wet snow. Parts of southwest nebraska, northeast colorado and northwest kansas were included in a blizzard warning today. 3 the wintry weather is still creating challenges for First Responders in parts of the mountains. Enkacandler firefighters say they are relying on fourwheel drive vehicles before pulling out tankers. One woman says they went above and beyond the call of duty to help her in a medical emergency in the snowstorm. They shoveled snow and ice off her stairs and walked her to the ambulance, which could not make it up the hill. 3 jana bowman, arden the stuff they were doing out there, youve got to have a love for that job, you really do. For them to be out there doing that with the weather like this is kind of incredible. Firefighters say when they have to put chains on their tires, they cannot drive faster than 35 miles an hour, 3 3 a popular stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway remains closed indefinately. The commuter stretch running between highway 70 and highway 191 is still under four to six inches of heavy, wet snow. Crews plan to work every day, including weekends, to get that snow cleare

Happens in just a little bit. Holly dot crews in Henderson County are asking people there for patience when it comes to clearing the roads. The dot has some equipment problems. Jay news 13s Lauren Brigman is live from the dot office on mt. Road in hendersonville and, lauren, those problems have left them short several trucks. Lauren yes, in fact, they have had lost five trucks since the beginning of this winter storm. So, they are down to 10 to use across the county. So its putting them a little behind when it comes to clearing roads. Our news 13 crews caught up with them a couple days ago to check in on the progress and as of yesterday they were making their way to those secondary roads. They hope to finish those yesterday and, in fact, we traveled across Henderson County this morning from mills river to flatrock and i can tell you roads like haywood road and Greenville County were looking good, just wet because we are seeing rain but the temperatures are above freezing. Howard has been writing about the past. And what is really neat is how he took on architecture. His first book, the preservation progress was a collection of essays and profiles, and then when he went right for right, that was with Frank Loyd Wright taking a look at the architectural biography of Frank Loyd Wright, and he partnered with Roger Strauss to take the photographs, and what followed is a series of books that are just not only stunning to look at but really faceting to be. We had hugh here before for the house of the Founding Fathers is one of the things. Just an interesting look at the Founding Fathers and the houses they live in. Hes written a number of books but this one is especially timely at the observance of the anniversary of the civil war and as i say, the photographs are spectacular. It it has been an interesting experience. We have gotten a lot of feedback from oral testimony, written testimony, people people who appeared and asked questions, and i am confident that will have concrete recommendations for the president on march 2 as he has requested. I am also optimistic that this is just the beginning of a much broader discussion that needs to happen if we really truly want change. Change.
