Parcel Motel to suspend UK virtual address for Irish customers over Brexit

PARCEL Motel has announced it will be suspending its UK virtual address service for Irish customers due to Brexit.
Packages sent to the company s depot in Newtownabbey in Antrim won t be accepted after December 28.

The company sent an email to customers last night.
They said: Following the Brexit impact, we would like to share with you that as of December 28, our virtual address services in the UK will be temporarily suspended. This means that from this date, we will no longer accept deliveries at the UK virtual address: 1a McKinney Road, Newtownabbey, UK.
The company has now said it will not be accepting deliveries to its Newtownabbey depot from December 28, with the service being suspended from December 31.
In a statement, Parcel Motel said: As of 31 December, our virtual address services in the UK will be temporarily suspended, until such time as a final Brexit decision has been implemented and our services have been adapted to meet the new requirements. As a result, all parcels crossing the new border between Britain and Ireland will be subject to customs formalities affecting the cost and transit time of your shipment.
DPD, meanwhile, said they would be temporarily suspending its collection service from Great Britain into the Republic and Northern Ireland from December 23.

Debenhams UK says it cannot deliver orders to Ireland due to Brexit uncertainty while it has also announced changes to returns to online shoppers in the Republic after January 1.
The chain which shut all its Irish stores in 2020 has placed a notice on what was Debenhams.ie.
It says: We are sorry but we are currently unable to deliver orders to the Republic of Ireland, due to uncertainty around post-Brexit trade rules. We have therefore made the difficult decision to temporarily switch off Debenhams.ie.
The firm says you can still return to Debenhams if you have purchased online you can return items within the standard returns policy set out further below.

There will be some disruption to parcel delivery in NI as two companies suspend services due to Brexit.
DPD Ireland will be temporarily suspending its collection service from Great Britain into NI and the Republic of Ireland from 23 December.
The company said it would only affect a small part of their business and not parcels travelling from NI to GB.
Parcels to the EU will be routed directly avoiding congestion we are already seeing at Dover and Calais .
Parcel Motel, which uses a virtual address in County Antrim allowing shoppers in the Republic of Ireland to avoid added costs through international shipping restrictions, is suspending that service.

The UPS-owned company has previously allowed customer get products delivered to an address in Northern Ireland, with the packages then transported to delivery lockers in the Republic.
However, that service will be suspended from December 28th as a result of the changes from Brexit.
In a message to customers, Parcel Motel said: We are working diligently to update our product offering in order to adapt to the latest trade requirements as they come to conclusion and better serve your shopping needs.
