For the past five years, popular San Antonio drag performer Kristi Waters has been crowned the Best Drag Queen in the Brit Sis Awards, an annual show voted by the local LGBTQ+ community.
The former fifth-grade teacher took home the crown during the fifth annual Brit Sis Awards, which took place on March 21 at the Heat Night Club, according to the show s Facebook page. Last year, she was also named Best Drag Performer by the San Antonio Current, which Waters said meant a lot, but the Brit one always feels special because it feels like home. Winning the [Brit Sis] award always feels special, said Waters, who was born in Corpus Christi and has lived in San Antonio for the past 10 years. It is nice to have that recognition by the LGBTQ+ community. It s nice knowing my work keeps being recognized.
