Road Gangodawila Nugegoda there is a man making oil filters. He has been making those since the Sixties and selling them some where. In the UK and US where I have happened to have lived
for years there are local makers of oil filters. It is very rare for a
manufacturer’s oil filter to be obtained from as far as France for a Peugeot or Germany for a BMW.

Traditional Māori flax paper to be taught at Sarjeant Gallery workshop

Whanganui s Sarjeant on the Quay is to host a two-day workshop where keen art enthusiasts will be taught harakeke papermaking.
The workshop, part of the Te Awa Reo exhibition, is an opportunity for keen artists to immerse themselves in traditional Māori art, taught by two of Whanganui s most experienced printmakers.
Marty and Marilyn Vreede of Pakohe Whanganui are leading the workshop, teaching a class of 10 the art of sustainable and tikanga-based harakeke papermaking.

Arunachal Is Reviving Its 1000-YO Art of Making Paper That Doesn’t Harm Trees
More durable than conventional paper, Mon Shugu holds a special place in the history of the Arunachal Pradesh’s Monpa tribe.

In February 2020, Maling Gombu, a Tawang-based social worker and lawyer, wrote to the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) a statutory body dedicated to the development of village industries, about the potential of a 1,000-year-old paper-making craft of the Monpa tribe in Arunachal Pradesh that was languishing.
Taking note of his letter, the KVIC took appropriate actions. Following months of planning, which was abruptly halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the KVIC launched a Monpa handmade paper making unit on 25 December at an erstwhile abandoned government building in Tawang. Called ‘Mon Shugu’, this fine-textured handmade paper is an integral part of Monpa history.
