City Council gives OK to promotions in Bossier City Police Department

View Comments The Bossier City City Council met Tuesday to discuss 21 items on its agenda. Of those 21 items, four were old business and 17 were new business.  The meeting moved swiftly with little to be discussed, except for one item that was removed from the agenda in the last meeting. That item was a resolution authorizing the promotion of one officer to sergeant, three sergeants to lieutenants, and one lieutenant to captain for Bossier Police Department.  The resolution was placed on the agenda after the allotted 24 hours before the date of the meeting. The timing was in violation of Open Meetings Laws and the item was removed from the May 18 agenda.

Chandler chooses newly elected councilman as Bossier City CAO

BOSSIER CITY, La. Shakeup with the new administration in Bossier City means a bit of a shakeup on the new city council. Mayor-elect Tommy Chandler has picked a man who was just elected to the council as his chief administrative officer. Shane Cheatham handily defeated longtime incumbent Scott Irwin in southern Bossier City s District 1 in last month s election. When our transition team was going over people, trying different people we could pick to be our CAO, and each time we went over Shane s resume and whatnot, he was the best person, Chandler said of his choice. I am excited to work with Tommy and all the employees of the city, Cheatham said. And I believe that with Tommy s vision for the future, and as well as what I d like to see in a better, prouder, stronger Bossier City, I believe we can work together with all our employees. And I believe the future for Bossier City is very bright.

Bossier Offers Update on Water System Issues

Bossier Offers Update on Water System Issues UPDATE: Bossier just issued the following advisory to residents on Bossier water: The City of Bossier’s Utility Department is requesting as outdoor temperatures rise above 32 degrees that customers suspend the use of any water that may be dripping in their properties for freeze prevention and only resume their freeze prevention after the temperatures drop back below freezing later this afternoon.   This will allow for improved water system pressure. We request that all customers who are users of the City’s water system,  continue to maintain the boil advisory, which is in place until the system is allowed to regain full pressure and proper testing can take place to assure the normal water quality and quantity are obtained.
