Stop the Silence raises awareness of victims of violence, resources available

Residents of all ages came together for a Stop the Silence rally on Tuesday at Optimist Jaycee Park in Stephenville to raise awareness of the number of violent crimes and victims of violence in Erath County, as well as highlight resources available to those affected.
In conjunction with National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, which is April 18-24, the event aimed to raise awareness about crime victims’ issues and rights and introduce the community to the important resources and services available.
Representatives from a variety of organizations were on hand, showing support and informing the public of the services they offer.
Cinderella Ball to benefit Paluxy River Children s Advocacy Center

The Paluxy River Children s Advocacy Center fundraising gala is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20.
The theme of this year s event is Cinderella Ball and it will be held at La Bella Luna, 7700 Glen Rose Hwy., Granbury.
The magical evening will include dinner, drinks, and live music performed by Boomtown. There will also be live and silent auctions.
Proceeds from the Cinderella Ball will be used to provide essential services to abused children in the community.
Paluxy River Children’s Advocacy Center is a non-profit organization that opened its doors on Sept. 1, 2006. It was the 61st center to open in the state of Texas.

Erath County officials have announced through the joint efforts of the EC Sheriff’s Office and the Hood County DA’s Office charges have been brought against Ryan Don Ivy, 42, who has been serving as youth pastor at the Bluff Dale Baptist Church, for online solicitation of a minor – victim under 14. This morning he was arrested on a felony warrant and booked into the Erath County Jail.
According to the arrest affidavit, in September investigators were made aware of the offense, a second degree felony. The alleged communication with a 13-year-old female in the Bluff Dale school district happened on or about July 27, 2020, in Bluff Dale, Erath County, Texas, and were reported to Erath County SO investigators after a forensic interview with the Paluxy River Children’s Advocacy Center.
