Palliser facing $1.5 million deficit in 2021-22 budget - Medicine Hat NewsMedicine Hat News

Palliser facing $1.5 million deficit in 2021-22 budget Poll Yes The Palliser School Division is facing a deficit of about $1.5 million after its board of trustees passed a motion to accept the 2021-22 budget. The board will be asking permission from Education Minister Adriana LaGrange to use some reserve funds to balance the budget. In a press release, the school division said that revenues for the 2021-22 school year “remained the same as the funding profile supplied by Alberta Education in the spring of 2020. The Palliser School Division is pleased there was no funding reduction but is concerned that funding for student growth and increases in costs are not being met, putting a strain on the education system.”

Edmonton public pushes for non-confidence vote on Alberta draft curriculum at provincial school boards meeting

Article content The Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB) will be asking for a non-confidence vote on the draft K-6 curriculum at a spring meeting of the Alberta School Board Association (ASBA) in June. Trustees passed a motion 6-2 Tuesday afternoon that, if the resolution is approved and passes at the ASBA meeting, would see the association lobby the government to halt the curriculum pilots and demand a rewrite. It says the draft is rife with errors and plagiarism, is not age-appropriate, and it does not reflect the province’s diversity. We apologize, but this video has failed to load.
