PALAIOCHORA (GREECE) - A rusty fishing boat carrying around 500 migrants docked at the Greek island of Crete on Tuesday after being dramatically rescued during near gale-force winds.
Greece’s coast guard launched a major rescue operation after receiving a distress call overnight. Rescuers successfully towed a dilapidated fishing boat that had lost steering and had been drifting in the Mediterranean south of Crete. The boat was crammed with 400 migrants.
