In meeting with spokespersons, Pakistan’s prime minister claims ‘flop’ Lahore rally proves public has rejected opposition’s narrative
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said opposition parties could resign from Parliament if they so desired but he would not bow down to their blackmailing attempts.
“I will not give in to their blackmailing,” he was quoted as saying by sources privy to the developments of the meeting. “Now that they have staged jalsas (rallies), they can also try their hand at a long march,” he added.

The united opposition’s Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) on Monday demanded that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government step down by Jan. 31 or risk street agitation, including a long march on the federal capital.
“Today, we want to make clear to the government that it should resign by Jan. 31,” PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman told a press conference after a meeting of senior opposition leaders in Lahore. Flanked by Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Vice President Maryam Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, he said that if the government did not resign by the end of January, the opposition would launch a long march toward Islamabad the exact date of which has yet to be decided.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhuto-Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz on Friday reiterated their resolve to stage the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)’s Dec. 13 at the Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore.
“Just like Karachi, Peshawar and Gujranwala, Lahore will also send a strong message to Islamabad that our puppet prime minister stands alone,” Bhutto-Zardari told a press conference alongside Nawaz after the two met at the latter’s Jati Umrah residence.
