Six more localities sealed in Islamabad as Covid-19 cases surge - Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The capital administration on Wednesday sealed six more localities to prevent the spread of Covid-19. A notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat said six streets - one each in Media Town, Bahria Town, River Garden, E-7, Korang Town and Jhangi Syedan - have been sealed till further orders. “On the recommendation of District Health Office and on the basis of surveillance activities of teams and Covid-19 test results from public and private labs and hospitals and in order to prevent the community spread of the Covid-19 virus in the area, street No 15 Block A Media Town, street No 10 Phase 4 Bahria Town, street No 15 River Garden, street No 5 Sector E-7, street No 5 Korang Town and Gali No 10 Kashmiri Mohallah, Jhangi Syedan will have restricted movement, controlled entry and exit with effect from July 14 in public interest and until further order,” the notification said.

Two succumb to Covid-19 in capital - Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: Two people died after battling with Covid-19 in the capital on Thursday and 62 people were diagnosed with the disease. During the last 24 hours 3,682 tests were conducted and the positivity rate was 1.6pc. As many as 140 patients reportedly recovered from the virus. Officials of the capital administration said that the deceased, both female patients, were from the 50-89 age group. Both were residents of I-9 and B-17, they added. There are 2,687 active cases in the city, they added. Rawalpindi One person succumbed to Covid-19 in the district on Thursday and 26 people were diagnosed with the disease whereas 27 people were discharged from hospitals after recovering.

Officials said nine deaths were reported in the capital and four in the garrison city. Moreover, 467 people were found infected in Islamabad and 114 in Rawalpindi. Officials of the capital administration said 165 cases and four deaths were reported on May 13, 244 cases and two deaths on May 14 and 58 cases and three deaths on May 15 in Islamabad. On Saturday, two women in the age group of 50-59 and 70-79 and a man aged between 60 and 69 years lost their lives. They were residents of G-8 and F-17. Two deaths were reported on Friday and both were males aged between 50-59 and 80-89 years and residents of I-10 and I-9.

No let-up in casualties from Covid-19 in twin cities - Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: Though the capital and Rawalpindi district have been witnessing a decline in Covid-19 cases for the last few days, there has been no let-up in the number of deaths from the virus as five more lost their lives in the area. Islamabad reported 178 new cases in the last 24 hours compared to 182 a day earlier whereas Rawalpindi saw 55 people contracting the virus against 68 the previous day. Officials of the capital administration said two deceased, who were male, belonged to the 60-69 age group and were residents of Chak Shahzad and Sohan. During the last 24 hours, 3,096 tests were conducted in the capital and results of 93 men and 85 women came back positive.
