LABUAN: More than 70,000 people in 25 villages here have been affected by water supply disruptions since last Sunday (July 24) due to pollution of their main source of water, Padas River in Beaufort, Sabah.
A resident in Kg Lubak Batandok, here, is at risk of becoming homeless as the house she lives in could collapse anytime due to soil erosion at the Sg Padas river bank.
“The land suddenly collapsed after the last flood and heavy downpour, it almost threatened our family home,” Siti Norisdah Mustaha said.
Siti Norsidah, who lives with her son, said the house was located a few metres from the river.
She said they had vacated the house for fear that the soil could erode further and cause the house to collapse into the river
The public is advised to store adequate water in anticipation of contaminated water flowing towards the Padas River from Keningau caused by a substance spillage from a tanker truck accident (pic).
The tanker truck was transporting plywood glue that spilled in an accident in Kg Bariawa, Keningau, last Saturday
