Ohio State Earns Series Win over Wisconsin with 3-2 Victory

LEESBURG, Fla. – Allison Smith pitched five scoreless innings, and Ohio State (5-4) overcome an early 2-0 deficit to earn a 3-2 win in eight innings over Wisconsin (4-5) on Friday afternoon in Leesburg, Fla. The Buckeyes took two of three games from the Badgers over the last two days in a series that included two extra innings contests and a total of 29 innings of softball. The Short Story Smith tossed 79 pitches to pick up her third win of the year and surrendered just a lead-off single in the sixth inning. At the plate, Ohio State scored twice in the top of the fifth – keyed by a double off the bat of Meggie Otte – and plated what turned out to be the winning run in the top of the eighth when Tegan Cortelletti scored from third on what was a throwing error by the Badger shortstop.

Seumanutafa Named to ANNIKA Watch List

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sophomore Aneka Seumanutafa has been named to the ANNIKA Watch List presented by Stifel. The award, which is considered the most prestigious award in women’s college golf, is given annually to the top female U.S. collegiate golfer. Seumanutafa led the team in scoring in each of the last two seasons and is off to a great start this season. She has finished in the Top 5 in all three events she has played so far this year and has a 71.50 scoring average. She has made 31 birdies and two eagles over 10 rounds. The Emmitsburg, Md., native was named Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week in back-to-back weeks after finishing second and fourth in an eight-day span at the Gators Invitational and the FSU Match Up last month.

Nine Buckeyes Travel to NCAA Indoor Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State University will be represented by nine student-athletes at the 2021 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships, which run Thursday through Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. The University of Arkansas is the host school. The event is closed and fans will not be allowed in attendance. A couple 2021 Big Ten champions and athletes of the championships, plus a star sprinter and five-time Big Ten champion, will headline the Buckeyes’ contingent to the championships. The competing Buckeyes this week will be (listed alphabetically): Adelaide Aquilla (shot put; Friday prelims and finals) – The senior throws specialist is the 2020 and 2021 Big Ten shot put champion who was also named field athlete of the championships at the 2021 indoor championships. Aquilla qualified for the NCAA indoor championships last year that were cancelled because of the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. She has the nation’s sixth-l
