Russell destined for NFA presidency after Piper withdraws, in extraordinary late twist
Former Trinidad and Tobago Men’s National Senior Team stand-out and Terminix La Horquetta Rangers goalkeeper coach Ross Russell was voted as president of the Northern Football Association (NFA) on Boxing Day by 11 from the zone’s 19 full member clubs.
But that is unlikely to be the end of the matter as Russell’s coronation occurred in an extraordinary general meeting that was not properly convened under the constitution.

“If it wasn’t so serious, it would be laughable!” Downer explains where Rigues went wrong
What was wrong with Jameson Rigues’ special meeting for Trinidad and Tobago Super League (TTSL) clubs on Saturday? Where to begin?
Veteran football official and referees association vice-president Osmond Downer, one of the framers of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) Constitution, has regularly been consulted on constitutional matters over the past five years. But he has never seen anything quite like Rigues’ interpretation of his powers as TTSL interim president before.

This morning, UTT FC head coach Clayton Morris was elected TTSL president after garnering eight votes at a reconvened virtual annual general meeting. ‘Abstentions’ came in second with one, while Rigues was third with zero votes.
NFA: EFATT president accused of interference, Downer and ‘Dada’ dispute validity of EGM date
The Northern Football Association (NFA) board of directors has accused Eastern Football Association (EFATT) president Kieron Edwards of violating the constitution of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) and the NFA, by seeking to interfere in its electoral process.
Edwards, who is also a director in the Ascension Football Tournament and a UNC alderman in the Arima Borough Corporation, claimed earlier this week that his only interest in the north zone is as a sponsor, and he is responding to requests for support from NFA member clubs.
