Road closures were put in place to allow the emergency services to respond to the incident and for an examination of the collision scene to take place. Motorists were advised by police to avoid the area and followed a diversion route to bypass the road closure. The A353 reopened after 10.20pm. Initial enquiries by police officers indicate the group of four motorcyclists travelled from the Greenhill area of Weymouth and along Preston Beach Road before travelling up to Osmington Hill prior to the collision. Police are now urging anyone who witnessed the crash, or has relevant dashcam footage, to come forward as they investigate the build up to the collision and what may have caused it.
