Officials chose the roughly 260,000-square-foot building, a onetime garment factory and recent artists' enclave that looms over the Inner Belt, after soliciting proposals from developers, property owners and real estate brokers.
'If Cuyahoga County and Summit had three to five good-quality sites of scale … that's three to five more than I think they have today,' one site-selection expert said.
The roughly $30 million project, the brainchild of Orlando Baking Co., will sit south of the company's longtime headquarters in the Kinsman neighborhood. But Orlando expects to use only 20% to 25% of the space for its own products and to rent out the rest to other businesses.
