Orange Grove police arrest teens in school hazing incident

Alice Echo News Journal ORANGE GROVE - Jordan Garcia, 17, and four other teenagers were charged on Thursday, May 13 by Orange Grove police in connection with a hazing incident that occurred at the Orange Grove High School in April, Police Chief Roy Lee Guerrero said.  Luke Inglis, 17, is wanted by Orange Grove police in connection with the incident, Guerrero added.  Names of the other four male suspects in this case will not be released due to their age. On May 3, Orange Grove police were contacted by school officials in reference to a potential hazing incident that occurred on April 29. Video footage was submitted into evidence which showed several male minors participate in the hazing of a 16-year-old teen on school grounds, Guerrero said.

Five minors arrested in Orange Grove High School hazing investigation and last updated 2021-05-13 20:01:49-04 ORANGE GROVE, Texas — Police say several people are facing serious charges following an alleged hazing incident at a local high school. Investigators said video of the incident was provided to them and they saw several minors participating in the hazing of another minor on school grounds. Orange Grove police said they reached out to the Texas Rangers along with Jim Wells County Sheriff s Office to assist in their investigation. After the victim filed a complaint, police said they arrested five people involved in the incident and issued an arrest warrant for another student

Author: Haley Williams (KIII) Updated: 7:15 PM CDT May 18, 2021 ORANGE GROVE, Texas The Orange Grove Police Department said they have video evidence of a hazing incident that happened at Orange Grove High School on Thursday, April 29. Five students were arrested since and now the sixth suspect has turned himself over to authorities Tuesday.  17-year old Luke Inglis surrendered to authorities Saturday. Inglis, along with 17-year old Jordan Garcia and four other teenagers are facing unlawful restraint charges, which is a felony.  The names of the other four male suspects in this case will not be released due to their age. Inglis and Garcia were taken to the Jim Wells County jail. The other four teens were transported to a juvenile facility.

JWC Farm Bureau announces scholarship winners Alice Echo News Journal To help several local students achieve their dreams of furthering their education, Jim Wells County Farm Bureau awarded two $1,500 scholarships on Tuesday, May 11. Sarah Pena, Alice High School, and Mikayla Hesseltine, Orange Grove High School, received the scholarships through the JWC Farm Bureau s scholarship program. We offer these scholarships at a local level to help kids right here at home, said Buddy Tymrak, JWC Farm Bureau President. Trade school, college and university educations can be expensive. Scholarships are one way we invest in the future of Texas agriculture. Pena plans to attend University of Texas San Antonio and Hesseltine plans to attend Texas Tech.

OGISD releases statement on hazing/bullying  incident ORANGE GROVE - A recent incident of reported hazing at the Orange Grove High School is under investigation by school officials and law enforcement agencies, Orange Grove Police Chief Roy Guerrero said. Details of the incident cannot be released due to the ongoing investigation involving several juveniles, Guerrero added. OGISD Superintend Randy Hoyer released a statement Monday, May 10th, about the incident. Last week, OGISD school officials were notified of inappropriate behavior that occurred at the high school. This behavior involved hazing/bullying by a small number of students. An investigation into the facts was conducted by school administrators and local police authorities were contacted immediately, Hoyer said. OGISD believes that this behavior is completely unacceptable and school consequences have been assigned to those students involved. Hazing/bullying at any level will not be tolerated.
