Striker Paul Onuachu earned Nigeria bragging rights with the last kick of the game as the Super Eagles defeated Benin Republic 1-0 in their match-day 5 of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Charles de Gaulle stadium in Porto-Novo on Saturday.
The Eagles thus maintained their leadership of Group L with 11 points, while Benin remained in second place on seven points.
Third-place Sierra Leone have four points, with bottom side Lesotho amassing three points.
The victory meant that the Eagles ended Benin’s eight-year unbeaten home record, which stretched back to 2013.
