The Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) on Wednesday said the country should look into creating programs for elderly Filipinos, establishing care facilities for them, and developing policies that would offer them employment opportunities if they want to work.
At a public briefing, POPCOM executive director Juan Antonio Perez said that based on the 2020 data, the country only has 39 million workers for 96 million consumers.“That is probably not enough. Probably we need to add 6 million more effective workers para magkaroon ng correct balance ng number of workers supporting the number of consumers,” he said.

Pakistan secures membership of three key United Nations Bodies

In elections held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Pakistan has secured the membership of three key UN bodies – the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ); the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW); and the Commission on Population and Development (CPD).
These Commissions play a pivotal role in enhancing international cooperation on various social and economic issues.
The elections were conducted at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), a 54-member principal organ of the UN. Pakistan’s election to CCPCJ and CPD was by the unanimous endorsement of all ECOSOC members.
