On Tuesday, Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers announced that Grace Johnson (Oglala Sioux Tribe) will serve as the Liaison for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons for the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office. The Liasion for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons is supervised and led by Bureau Chief of the Criminal Bureau. The liaison will coordinate with tribal,federal, state, and local entities in reporting and investigating missing and murdered Indigenous persons.
Over the course of three hours Wednesday, the Supreme Court grappled with whether a law meant to keep Indigenous children with Native American families should be overturned as racist and unconstitutional, as critics charge.

For Paul Knows The Country, a Ponca Hethu’shka Society member of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska and Iowa, each beat of a drum represents the beat of a heart.
That is why the 45-year-old man has been playing in Native American drum circles since he was a child.
Boom . boom . boom.
“My grandfather taught me how to play the drums,” Knows The Country said with a laugh. “I was not very good at first. But I got better over time.”
