NSAA places Norfolk Public Schools on probation after racial slur complaint

The complaint follows an incident during a February basketball game against the Omaha Northwest Girls.
The complaint is in regard to a racial slur directed at players of the Omaha basketball team, by a person seated in the Norfolk High School bleachers on Feb. 12.
In response to the incident, the NSAA has placed Norfolk Public Schools on probation for the remainder of the school year. If another incident occurs before the end of the school year, more sanctions would be imposed.
In a statement to KTIV from Norfolk Public Schools, the board says they are extremely disappointed by the incident at the basketball game.
