FRIDAY, March 24, 2023 (HealthDay News) Duodenoscopes are getting attention from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration after pieces have fallen off and remained in patients bodies.
Duodenoscopes tubular cameras threaded into the intestine with disposable parts were supposed to be safer. But the parts can fall off in the body, the F.D.A. warned.
The FDA encouraged hospitals to switch to duodenoscopes with disposable parts for safety reasons, but years after, these have also been flagged as defective.
The deep learning model, known as Sybil, predicts future lung cancer risk based on a single low-dose chest CT and can identify individuals who would benefit from regular monitoring.
