Oman chalks out sustainable growth plans

Muscat: Plans for Oman’s economic growth to go hand-in-hand with environmental sustainability have been drawn up between the Sultanate and the United Kingdom.
Part of the UK-Gulf Marine Environment Partnership (UK-GMEP), they will be carried out by the Environment Authority, and the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS), the UK government’s marine environmental science advisory agency.
His Majesty sends greetings to President of Poland

New COVID infections in Oman up 97% in March-April

Muscat: There has been a significant increase in new cases of coronavirus infections and deaths in the region between March and April 2021, a social activist and data analyst has found after analysing Ministry of Health data.
Speaking exclusively to the Times of Oman, Ibrahim Al Maimani said, “There has been an increase of 97 per cent in new infections between March and April 2021. The number of new cases in March reached 17,722, and in April it reached 34,886.”
He cited the data to point out that July 2020 was the highest in terms of new infections which had reached 39,000 then. The rate of recovery rose 164 per cent, as 11,507 recoveries were recorded in March 2021, against 30,394 recoveries in April 2021.
Can auto market rebound in 2018?

People are holding back on big-ticket car purchases in Oman despite attractive campaigns from dealers and banks. According to a report from the BMI Research, there is scope for a small rebound of around three per cent in the new vehicle sales across 2018.
A recent report from Alpen Capital said the number of passenger cars in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is expected to grow at five per cent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) from an estimated 10.2 million in 2015 to 13.2 million in 2020.
In the GCC, Saudi Arabia showed a decline of 19.4 per cent, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) 24.7 per cent, Kuwait 28.2 per cent, Qatar 25.2 per cent and Bahrain 23.6 per cent.
Barca blow chance to go top after home defeat to Granada
