Amotekun men shot the motorcyclist in the Araromi area of Akure, the Ondo State capital, on 9 August 2021, leading to the amputation of his left leg about a month after.
Tope Temokun, lawyer to a commercial motorcyclist who lost his leg to a gunshot by the Ondo state’s security network agency code-named Amotekun, Olusegun Oluwarotimi has asked Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to pay N30million in compensation to his client as directed by the court.
An Ondo State High Court has ordered the state government to pay the sum of N30million as compensation to a commercial motorcyclist identified as Oluwasegun Oluwarotimi who lost his leg to a gunshot injury inflicted on by the officers of the state’s security network agency code-named Amotekun. Justice Adejumo held that the treatment meted on the applicant amounted to a violation of his right to dignity and awarded the sum as damages. Oluwasegun was working when operatives of Amotekun Corps made his life miserable on August 9, 2021.
