First, there s the March Madness Outdoor Watch Party. This Saturday, March 20th, you can catch the first round of March Madness, safely. The event will be held from 11am - 6pm next to Old Burdick s Bar and Grill on the North Kalamazoo Mall. A couple of things to note about this event:
You should bring your own chair
All ages are welcome
The space will open up an hour before the game starts
While it s not specified on the event page, I assume Covid-19 regulations are still in place. Make sure you re prepared with a mask and maintain social distance from those around you.
St. Patrickâs Day celebrations take place in downtown Kalamazoo this Saturday, March 13. Visitors are invited to grab some food and drinks to enjoy the outside at the Central Commons Refreshment Area, which will allow for social distancing.Â
Green Beer will be available at several locations, including Old Burdickâs Bar and Grill, Papa Peteâs, Olde Peninsula Brewpub, Harveyâs on the Mall and Green Top Tavern.
Live musical performances will also take place outside throughout the downtown mall from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., along with appearances from St. Patrick and Liam the Leprechaun.Â
A walking pub crawl will begin at Harvey s and tour the local bars of Saugatuck Brewing Co., Final Gravity, Green Top Tavern and LFG Gaming Bar at noon.
Craft Beverage Week Starts With Outdoor & Carry-out Events First
Like everything else, it s different this year, but Kalamazoo Craft Beverage Week (yes, that s the new name. It was Craft Beer Week for the first ten years.) presses on.
The organizers have put together a hybrid Craft Beverage Week celebration, in an effort to both help local businesses, but to also get people out, but in a safe and distanced manner. Several participants plan outdoor parties while waiting for the restart of indoor dining on Monday. Here s how the whole thing works, beginning tonight.
This event now includes local distilleries and wineries mixed in with the breweries. As to the hybrid part, with health and safety in mind, there is a mix of hybrid and virtual events this year, along with special carryout and to-go options that will allow participants to still enjoy their favorite brews and cocktails while supporting local craft beverage makers and partners.

In talking with people around Southwest Michigan, and Kalamazoo, specifically, one of the things that people miss most about life pre-pandemic is going out and socializing. The customizable package brings the restaurant experience to the guests’ private rooms. The visitors can work with Radisson Food and Beverage Sales Manager Shawdy Moaiery to customize their menu drawing from offerings at Webster’s Prime and Old Burdick’s.
