Civil Servants With Disabilities Seek Special Allowance

The National Civil Servants Association of Persons with Disabilities (NCSAPWDs) on Friday appealed to the Federal Government to provide special allowance to people living with disabilities to ease their daily challenges. Member of the association, Dr Samuel Eny-Ebifa, made the appeal in Abuja at a one-day Disability Workshop organised by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs in commemoration of the International Day for Persons With Disability (PWDs). Eny-Ebifa said the allowances would enable them provide their basic needs such as wheelchair and Braille machines computer software which were expensive and not easily affordable for people with disability. “A person who lost some of the ability or use of some organs of the body is disable and this makes our daily lives more difficult when it comes to accessing certain services and support.

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Ahmad Abdurrahman, has bagged a fellowship award of the Institute of Peace, Conflict and Development Studies of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT). Conferring the award on the commissioner on Thursday at ESUT Main Campus, Agbani near Enugu, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Charles Eze, said that Abdurrahman merited the award for his exemplary qualities as a peace-lover. Ogbonnaya Onu The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, has urged Nigerian youths to embrace Science and Technology Innovations (STI) for self reliance and sustainable socio-economic development. Onu gave the task on Friday in Enugu after receiving an award during the “Nzuko Oha Ndi Ntorobia Igbo 2020’’ organised by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide. The minister said that Nigerian youths must embrace STI since the richest people in the world, as of now, made their money through technological innovations and programmes. According to him, I want you (youths) to be like them. There should be no doubt in your mind, that you can do this. You can do it, because those who have succeeded are human beings like you.
