we are starting with some breaking news. fire officials in oregon say multiple firefighters were injured in a blast in a northwest portland neighborhood. this happened as utility workers were repairing a damaged gas line. heavy black smoke all over the area this morning. you can see this is a live look of what it looks like out there right now. this is a multi-story building and er we will continue to follow this and as we get updates, we will update you during the show. back at home we have new video coming into the newsroom of the school bus crash at dia last month. up until this point, we haven t seen any moments of the crash or the moments leading up to it but we really want to warn you it may be difficult to watch. we have decided to show it to you as we work to learn more about what led up to the fatal that day and it s very slow. you re going to see the school bus, around the corner. 15 students were taken to metro area hospitals after the crash. three legacy coaches
stabbing incident took place on campus earlier this morning. officials say a student plowed into a crowd on campus with a car and then jumped out and started stabbing people with a butcher knife. that suspects, an 18-year-old ohio state student, police say is a somali refugee who was a legal permanent resident of the united states. officials do not have a motive at this time but do say the attack was done on purpose. police say they sh that suspect. i heard multiple gunshots. i wasn t sure if it was real but i looked out the window and saw that it was really happening. it s not real. you go gnome. it s not supposed to happen. sorry. [ crying ]. so yeah. it s scary. it was really scary. we barricaded ourselves in our we just hunkered down. a very scary morning for folks on campus. about 66,000 students attend that school and then you have professors and all sorts of other people working on campus. 10 people were taken to the hospital after those stabbings. one is in crit
