DANVILLE, Va. â On April 13, history was made as Officer Bryanna McLaughlin joined the ranks of the Danville Police Department (DPD), where she will serve alongside her father Lt. Jeffrey McLaughlin.
For the first time, a father and daughter will be members of the police department at the same time. Lt. McLaughlin joined the DPD in 1996, inspired by his own uncleâs law enforcement career. In his 24 years, heâs seen uncles and nephews, brothers, and other relatives serve together, but having his daughter also on the force is special.
âFor a father and daughter, for your daughter to be the one to follow in your footsteps, it means a lot,â he said.
