The Rajasthan government has announced that it will increase Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation from 21% to 26%, with the additional 6% going to the most backward castes within the category, raising overall reservation in the state from 64% to 70%. A survey will be conducted by the OBC commission to identify the most backward castes, with the commission submitting a report in a time-bound manner. The state government has also removed the property condition for economic weaker sections to qualify for full benefit of the 10% reservation in the category.
The party has decided to take on the state governments and their parties ruling the four states flagged by the NCBC for denying the eligible OBC candidates their rights of reservation. Sources stated that there will be a series of press conferences by the OBC leaders in these states ahead of a bigger outreach programme., India News, Times Now
