The remains of renowned cardiologist cum military historian, Nowamagbe Omoigui, was on Saturday interred at the Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia, USA.
As a part of his final obsequies, a double-headed funeral service was held at St. John Neumann Church, Columbia, USA as well as a traditional farewell at his ancestral home in Benin City, Edo State.
Mr Omoigui who excelled as a cardiologist was renowned for his ingenuity in documenting stories about the Nigerian military.

Mr Omoigui, described as a precocious talent who set records everywhere he went, was born on March 28, 1959. He died on April 18.
The family of the late Nowamagbe Omoigui who
diedin April on Friday launched a centre for the advancement of art, history and medicine in memory of the renowned scholar.
The Nowa Centre for Advancement of Art, History and Medicine is to be operated by DAGOMO Foundation, led by an independent board, with support from the Omoigui family, well-wishers and donors.

BENIN CITY – The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has described late Nowamagbe Austin Omoigui, as an outstanding achiever in his chosen career during his lifetime.
The governor made the remarks at a funeral mass held in honour of late Omoigui, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Benin City.
Obaseki said, “Nowamagbe was a genius, an outstanding achiever in all he does. He was a fine gentleman who devoted his life to the service of humanity. He achieved all he planned to achieve.
“He is described by many in different ways but for me, I will describe him as a quintessential Edo man. He is better known as a military and a civilian historian who achieved greatness in his chosen career.”
