Policing networks, stopping threats as China rises

Policing networks, stopping threats as China rises April 21, 2021 Norwich University’s 2021 Peace and War Virtual Summit concludes with pair of Wednesday afternoon sessions How’s this for ripped-from-the-headlines urgency? On Wednesday, right as the Virtual Peace and War Center prepared to conclude by focusing partly on the U.S.-China cybersecurity struggle, The Washington Post and South China Morning Post outlined a growing threat. The summit, presented by the John and Mary Frances Patton Peace and War Center, concludes with two sessions, both streamed online and free to attend. The news outlets reported that FireEye, a security company working with the U.S. government, suspected Chinese government hackers compromised U.S. government agencies, defense contractors and financial institutions. A U.S. official, speaking anonymously, told the Post the Defense Department was not believed to have been compromised.

Blazing a path to empathy

Blazing a path to empathy April 14, 2021 Fast Company magazine cites Norwich President Dr. Mark Anarumo’s dorm stay as important act of leadership Norwich President Dr. Mark Anarumo is spending this week (and maybe longer) among students in Dalrymple Hall, just as he spent a week in Wilson Hall earlier this semester. Both times, he stayed for leadership; he wanted to live the dorm life to better understand students’ needs, physical and emotional, and ensure they were met. Anarumo’s Wilson stay drew media coverage regionally (Burlington, Vermont, stations WVNY-TV/WFFF-TV and WPTZ-TV, Boston-based New England Cable News, for television; The Associated Press and Seven Days for print) and nationally (Anderson Cooper’s “Full Circle” online for broadcast, the “EdSurge Podcast” for audio and The New York Times for print).
