GPD responds to a residential burglary and an attempted vehicle burglary on Nov. 26th

Galesburg Police on Saturday, November 26th around 8:40pm responded to a residential burglary in the 200 block of Lombard Street. Officers met with a 73-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman who said they returned home to find their front door had been kicked in. The couple discovered over $1,200 in cash was missing as well as the woman's wallet - taken from her purse in the kitchen. The two couldn't name a potential suspect for police. The incident remains under investigation. Later on Saturday night, GPD responded to Circle K on North Henderson Street for an attempted vehicle burglary. A store employee said another employee discovered her vehicle was damaged in the parking lot. She discovered several dents on the driver-side door and a brick mark on the window. It appeared to police that someone attempted to break into her vehicle - the woman had left her purse and wallet sitting in a clearly visible spot on the front seat. Police, at the time of the report, were stil

Galesburg man charged with DUI after hit-an-run accident; Cambridge man charged with DUI after striking a vehicle at Yemm Chevrolet

Galesburg Police late Saturday afternoon, November 26th, responded to the area of Farnham Street and East Main for a report of a hit-and-run accident. Officers caught up with the suspect vehicle on Silver Street and made contact with the driver: a 24-year-old Galesburg man. The man told police he was driving "west" on Farnham street - a street that runs north-south - and that he was hit in the front by another vehicle that was on Main Street. The man said the other vehicle did not stop at the light, according to police reports. The man was emitting an alcoholic odor, spoke with a "thick tongue" and appeared agitated and impatient. The man denied being under the influence of anything illegal. He agreed to submit a blood sample and openly admitted to officers he drank the day before and smoked cannabis earlier that day. Galesburg woman arrested after battering Mcdonald's employees

Galesburg Police on Wednesday evening were dispatched to McDonald's on North Henderson Street for a fight in progress. Officers met with a 42-year-old woman and her two daughters outside. The woman said McDonald's always gets her order wrong, and when she voiced her displeasure, someone threw a soft drink at her, and then the manager took a swing at her. Police met with the store's manager and employees who said the woman came in and ordered a, "#7 - hamburger style," according to police reports. When the woman started screaming at the manager when she received her order and noticed cheese on it. The manager advised the woman to order her sandwich a different way because most of their employees don't know the term "hamburger style". The woman then came around the counter and started swinging at the 30-year-old manager. One of the woman's daughters threw a soft drink that missed the manager but hit her mother. Galesburg man arrested after attacking woman with wooden mallet and cutting her.

Galesburg Police responded to Advanced Auto Parts on Sunday morning after employees called police and advised of a female subject with numerous injuries coming into the store. Officers arrived and made contact with the 38-year-old woman whom police have had multiple encounters with. According to police reports, the woman had a large puncture wound to the side of her head, several cuts and dried blood on her hand, and multiple cuts on her abdomen as well. The woman said the 38-year-old male whom she shares a residence with was the assailant. The woman also said another male subject was being held at the residence against his will. GHAS arrived on the scene and provided medical treatment to the woman. Police responded to the 1200 block of North Henderson Street and the male suspect was taken into custody. Galesburg woman arrested for DUI Friday evening

Galesburg Police on Friday, September 30th, around 6:00 pm were dispatched to the 1600 block of North Henderson Street - the site of City Select Motors. The caller told police a possibly intoxicated female was behind the wheel of a vehicle in the parking lot and an alcoholic beverage was visible in the center console. Officers made contact with the 47-year-old female driver who told police her boyfriend had driven the vehicle to the lot. The caller told police they observed the female pull into the lot off Henderson Street. The female added that she was at the dealership to return the vehicle because she did not want it. Video surveillance confirmed the caller's account. The woman had difficulty maintaining balance and had slurred speech and watery eyes. She refused to perform a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest. Another small bottle of alcohol fell from her person as officers took her into custody.
