BLETHER: Brother's tribute to Dundonian ex-Forfar and Brechin striker Steven Graham who has died

Updated: February 20, 2021, 9:48 am © SYSTEM Steven (left) and Malcolm Graham. The sad news reached me this week that Steven Graham had died after a battle with cancer. Steven (63) had two spells with Forfar Athletic, and one each with Brechin City and Cowdenbeath in a 10-year spell from the late 1970s. Devastating news that Dundonian Steven Graham who played @ForfarAthletic@BrechinCityFC@CowdenbeathFC in addition to Auchterhouse amateurs, has lost his brave battle with cancer. RIP. He was very well-known locally despite having lived the last 30 years in Derby in England, and, indeed, often came back to Dundee for visits. Steven attended Gillburn Primary School and Kirkton High School in the city, and was part of one of the great St Columba’s BC teams.

- The Courier

The Courier’s newsroom transformation The Courier is transforming its newsroom in an ambitious and radical restructure that will better serve our audience online. Existing staff are currently being mapped into new roles, and the change requires the brands to hire new staff in key positions. They include reporters across Live News, Sports and Crime & Courts, while there are also adverts for a Data Content Specialist, an Audio Producer, a Group Picture Editor and two social media roles. The transformation has been in the planning for the last 18 months and was instrumental in attracting David Clegg – former political editor of the Daily Record – to take over as Editor of The Courier.

Lesley Riddoch: How to reclaim our Bard's legacy for a Burns Night like no other

WHAT will you be doing this Burns Night? One thing’s for sure. You won’t be going to a community centre, village hall, church hall, friend’s front room or hotel function suite to attend an actual Burns Supper. Does that mean celebrations won’t happen at all in 2021 or could the whole clanjamfry jump online, introducing Scotland’s national poet to new generations, New Scots and folk previously scunnered with Burns Supper ritual – pleasingly familiar for some but off-puttingly formulaic for others? The pandemic will force Scots to decide. Is the Bard’s legacy meaningful enough to get us all on Zoom, holding virtual Burns Suppers across borders, counties and countries with dispersed meals of haggis, neeps and tatties?
