News of the signing was met with enthusiasm, both from Hopkinton and the running community.
“The IMC will be a signature destination for runners the world over a truly international venue designed to draw both U.S. and overseas visitors, like the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York,” Hopkinton Town Manager Norman Khumalo said in a statement.
Four-time Boston winner Bill Rodgers put his support behind the project. It would be great if the IMC develops along the lines Tim (Kilduff) is hoping for, he said in an email to the Daily News. The BAA has a terrific collection of trophies and memorabilia related to the Boston Marathon and it would be great if the Public could see them.
