Fiona Brosnan
Fiona Brosnan, a student at the school, was confirmed as a finalist in ActionTalks national speech-writing competition run by ActionAid, which is open to all students aged 14 to 17 years old.
The competition is taking place entirely online this year and the topics focus on the pandemic. Another Kerry student, Labhraidh Costello, a student at Mercy Secondary School Mounthawk, Tralee, has also been chosen as one of the eight finalists in the competition. We had a challenge on our hands choosing the finalists this year, said Siobhán McGee, CEO of ActionAid Ireland. As well as the high volume of entries, we could see that students from across the country worked hard on the speeches, including researching how the pandemic had affected people in other countries.
