um, is telling. i m not quite sure whether it means that he would go in there and criticize donald trump. or he would go in there and defend mike pence. i mean, we we don t we just don t know. we just don t know because he s close to both men. ambassador eisen, i mean, if meadows suddenly wants to cooperate after likely being held in contempt, what would then happen? well, meadows could still cure his contempt by coming in and cooperating. he seems to be determined, anderson, on a course of noncooperation. right. seems highly unlikely after wavering like he has that he would do it again. well, he i agree it s unlikely. he has flip flopped once. you know, thank goodness for the country this is the gang that could not shoot straight. um, meadows has worsened his own
executive privilege, but his new book reportedly includes portions about january 6th. you think he opens himself up to not being able to claim executive privilege from the committee because some of that information is in a book? i absolutely do. you can t have it both ways. you can t write a book in which you divulge privileged conversations with the president and get paid for it but then invoke executive privilege before a committee of inquiry by the united states house of representatives. that s just not going to fly. i think mark is smart enough. i know him very well. we worked together on our committee together when he was in the congress. he s smart enough to know that he could put himself in legal jeopardy and doesn t really want to do that. so he s going to thread this needle carefully, but i think a brick wall of noncooperation is not mark meadows style and not in his interest.
be on thinner ice for that specific reason. trump is not helping him! that s a great point, and an important one. there s another development as well as i understand it, in respect the former chief mark meadows. who have been in a kind of middle of noncooperation subsequent now to the ban an indictment. now that he s indicted, it appears a meadows is cooperating is that correct? that s right. there s a wide range of activity, and i d use that word it can range from all the way to providing unlimited amount of documents and text messages all the way up to a sworn that position. our understanding right now is that meadows is at least cooperating with the committee on the smaller end of that collaboration spectrum. we know he s turnover tons and tons of emails and other written communications. we know we don t know the contents of those emails and
noncooperation because you nvr know what might happen. but some of these folks, i don t believe they can get documents from third parties. that involve him in k communications between him and the president and others. so i think you have to seek all this information and all this testimony. i don t know how much additional time it will take. at this it point they have a prelt easy process. that doesn t take a lot of effort and probably it s the case with respect to some of them, they are day deefiant andt invoke the fifth amendment right, you can have a quick vote if you think it s appropriate to be referred to the justice department for contempt of congress criminal charges, i don t know it wastes a lot of time. there s no way you go through this process without asking for testimony from it all those kinds of people. great insight as always. we appreciate it. thank you. new tonight, coming up, the
