Stampede earn weekend sweep over Storm

By Carter Woodiel Feb 22, 2021 5:02 AM KEARNEY, Neb. (Stampede) – The Sioux Falls Stampede defeated the Tri-City Storm 4-2 to earn a two-game sweep at the Viaero Center Sunday evening. Goaltender Noah Grannan was the star of the game after stopping 37 of 39 shots on net. Luke Toporowski, Brent Johnson and Reid Pabich scored in the contest. Gavin Brindley scored the opening goal of the game for the Tri-City Storm at 5:54 of the first period with the assist to Cole O’Hara. The Herd quickly responded with a goal from defenseman Brent Johnson, his tenth of the season, with the assists to Dante Fantauzzi and Reid Pabich.

Stampede seven-game point streak ends with loss to Sioux City

By Carter Woodiel Feb 15, 2021 5:02 AM SIOUX CITY, IA (Stampede) – The Sioux Falls Stampede lost their first game in regulation since Jan. 22 against the Sioux City Musketeers Sunday afternoon at the Tyson Events Center. Luke Toporowski and Garrett Pinoniemi scored in the loss, while Noah Grannan made the start between the pipes, stopping 18 of 21 shots on net. For the second game in a row, the Musketeers were able to get on the board first with a goal from Brian Carrabes at the 16:25 mark of the period. The Herd was able to respond with a goal from Luke Toporowski on the power play from Garrett Pinoniemi a minute later.

Stampede Weekend Sweep Spoiled in Overtime

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Stampede) – The Sioux Falls Stampede were looking for the three-game weekend sweep but came up short in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Sioux City Musketeers at the Tyson Events Center Sunday afternoon. Dan Russell scored both goals for the Herd, while Noah Grannan made the start in net after missing the last two weeks due to injury. He stopped 22 of 25 shots faced in net. The two teams finished the first period scoreless, continuing the streak from last night where neither team scored in the second or third period. Each team failed on a power play attempt that left it scoreless after one.
